Legion Add Mobile Defenseman Pierre

Preston Pierre Commits to Łódź Legion for Inaugural 2026–27 EUCHL Season

The Łódź Legion is proud to announce that defenseman Preston Pierre has committed to the club for the 2026–27 season, the inaugural campaign of the European Union College Hockey League. The 19-year-old from Hazelton, British Columbia, brings a unique combination of on-ice skill and academic commitment that aligns perfectly with the Legion's mission of developing complete student-athletes.

Pierre most recently suited up as an affiliate player for the Logan Lake Miners, where his smooth skating ability and puck-moving instincts caught the attention of the Legion staff. After initially stepping away from competitive hockey to focus on environmental sciences studies, the mobile defenseman has made the decision to return to the game at a higher level. His time away from full-time hockey provided valuable perspective and maturity that should serve him well as he transitions to the European college hockey environment.

"Preston is the type of player and person we're proud to add to our program," said Legion Director of Hockey Operations. "He's a fluid skater who can move the puck efficiently and transition play from defense to offense. More importantly, he demonstrated real character by pursuing his education, and now he's ready to combine both passions in our unique program. His background in environmental sciences will be a great fit with the academic opportunities available through our partnerships with the University of Łódź and Łódź University of Technology."

The EUCHL model offers players like Pierre an unprecedented opportunity to continue their hockey development while earning a European education. The Legion's academic partnerships provide English-language degree programs in fields ranging from engineering to environmental studies, allowing North American players to pursue their educational goals while experiencing a new culture and competing at a high level. For Pierre, the chance to continue his studies while playing meaningful hockey in Poland's third largest city represents an ideal next step in his development.
