International Netminder, Santiago Cucuraqui joins the Legion

Łódź Legion Signs Mexican Goaltender Santiago Cucuraqui for Inaugural EUCHL Season

The Łódź Legion is proud to announce the commitment of goaltender Santiago Cucuraqui for the 2026-27 European Union College Hockey League season. The Mexico City native becomes the latest international addition to the Legion's inaugural roster, bringing elite goaltending experience and a unique perspective to the program as it prepares to redefine the college hockey landscape in Poland.

Cucuraqui, born in 2006, has spent recent seasons developing his craft in North America's competitive youth hockey system. Most recently with the San Diego Sabres, the promising netminder has built an impressive resume that includes representing Mexico at the World Junior Championship level. His journey from Mexico City to the North American hockey circuit demonstrates the dedication and passion that Legion head coach and management seek in their student-athletes.

Scouting reports on Cucuraqui consistently highlight his quickness and agility between the pipes. His ability to track the puck in high-traffic situations and make difficult saves look routine has drawn praise from evaluators across multiple leagues. The experience gained competing against top-tier talent in Canada and the United States has refined his positional play and mental approach to the game, making him an ideal candidate to anchor the Legion's defensive unit as the EUCHL launches its inaugural campaign.

Beyond his on-ice abilities, Cucuraqui's commitment represents the Legion's mission of providing student-athletes with world-class academic opportunities alongside elite hockey development.

"His international background, competitive experience, and commitment to excellence both on the ice align perfectly with our vision of developing players and building character."

As the Łódź Legion continues assembling its roster ahead of the 2026-27 season, Cucuraqui's commitment signals the program's ability to attract elite talent from around the globe. Welcome to Łódź, Santiago.
