Legion Sign Goaltender Conan Gilhuly

ŁÓDŹ, POLAND — The Łódź Legion are pleased to announce that goaltender Conan Gilhuly has committed to the club for the 2026–27 season, the inaugural campaign of the European Union College Hockey League. The 2006-born netminder from Vancouver, British Columbia, becomes another key addition to the Legion's roster as the organization prepares to launch its unique player development model.

Gilhuly arrives in Łódź following his tenure with the Athabasca Rivermen, where he developed his technical foundation and competitive mindset between the pipes. The Vancouver native brings a West Coast hockey pedigree to Poland, combining the athletic style common among British Columbia goaltenders with a work ethic that made his signing an easy one. At six-foot-plus with room to add strength, Gilhuly possesses the physical tools to excel at the EUCHL level while continuing to refine the mental aspects of his position.

"We're extremely excited to have Conan join the squad," said Legion Director of Hockey Operations in a statement. "He's at a stage in his development where the combination of high-level competition, professional coaching, and academic opportunity can truly accelerate his growth. Our goaltending development program will challenge him daily, and we're confident he'll thrive in this environment."

The EUCHL model offers Gilhuly something unavailable in traditional North American junior routes: the chance to compete in meaningful games while pursuing higher education at either the University of Łódź or Łódź University of Technology. The Legion's academic partnerships ensure players maintain eligibility and work toward degrees while training in a professional environment. For Gilhuly, the opportunity to experience European culture, develop language skills, and build an international network adds dimension to his hockey career that few goaltenders his age will access.

College hockey is going to be a huge jump in my career but I'm excited to take it," said Conan when asked about what this means to him.

As the Legion continue assembling their inaugural roster, Gilhuly joins a growing group committed to redefining what the college hockey experience can be. The club's philosophy — Developing Players.
